Nha Trang is a coastal city and capital of Khanh Hoa Province, in south central Vietnam. Historically, the city was known as Kauthara during the Champa period . It is still home to the famous Po Nagar Tower built by the Champa. Today the city is known for its beaches and scuba diving.

Po Nagar is a Cham temple tower founded sometime before 781 C.E. and located in the medieval principality of Kauthara, near modern Nha Trang. It is dedicated to Yan Po Nagar, the goddess of the country. The Po Nagar complex consists of three levels, the highest of which encompasses two rows of towers. The central image is a 1.2m tall stone statue of the goddess Yan Po Nagar. This sculpture belongs to the Tra Kieu style of Cham art from the end of the 10th century or the beginning of the 11th century.
Long Sơn Pagoda is a Buddhist temple and is regarded as one of the main temples in the city. Its origin traces back to 1886. The temple was destroyed by a large cyclone in 1900 and it was renovated and expanded in 1940. The entrance and roofs are decorated with dragon mosaics which are built from glass and ceramic tiles. The main ceremonial hall is adorned with modern interpretations of classical motifs.
Nha Trang Cathedral, also called the Christ the King Cathedral, is the mother church of the Catholic Diocese of Nha Trang. The parish was founded in 1886 by French missionaries. The present church was built in Gothic Revival style and remains one of the coastal town’s most important remnants of French architecture. It also has a remarkable amount of stained glass windows depicting saints, including several French saints.
Nha Trang Beach is the main beach near city center, making it an easy and popular waterfront destination. Nha Trang is well known for its beaches and scuba diving, with Nha Trang Bay widely considered as among the world's most beautiful bays. Nha Trang Beach is lined with mid to high range resorts, attracting large numbers of backpackers, as well as more affluent travelers on the south-east Asia circuit.
